Gad Mikhail Yassa demonstrated exceptional intellectual abilities from a young age, displaying a keen interest in theology and religious studies. His passion for learning led him to pursue advanced studies at prestigious institutions, where he immersed himself in the rich tradition of Coptic spirituality and theology.

 

In 1959, Gad Mikhail Yassa was ordained as a monk and assumed the monastic name Kyrollos. His ascetic lifestyle, humility, and deep spirituality earned him the respect and admiration of his fellow clergy and faithful. In 1971, he was elected as the 116th Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and the See of St. Mark, becoming known as Pope Kyrollos VI.

 

Pope Kyrollos VI's patriarchate was marked by a steadfast commitment to preserving and promoting the ancient heritage of the Coptic Orthodox Church.
